Photos of New Zealand

Photos of various places in New Zealand

New Zealand consists of two large islands. We're slowly making our way south.
The New Zealanders not only try to make their country appeal to tourists, but they also make a strong effort to appeal to thrill seekers. They did invent bungy jumping. That might be the most famous of their thrill sports, but it doesn't stop there. They have abseiling, parasailing, street luging down the steep mountains of Queenstown, and white-water rafting (just to name a few). Here at Buller Gorge, they have the Superman ride across the gorge. This was ok, but nothing compared to bungy jumping!
Here were some beautiful waterfalls I found somewhere near Raetihi. Sorry, somehow I lost track of the name of these
Some of the beautiful spots along the New Zealand coastline occur around Punakaiki. This area is famous for what are called the Pancake Rocks. Here's a picture of an area near the rocks.
And here's a shot of the Pancake Rocks.
As you travel south along the western coast of the south island, you enter what is known as temperate rainforest. Some of these areas get up to an average of 7 meters of rainfall per year. Greenery grows on every tree trunk and surface. This photo was taken in the forest just south of Westport.
